FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are there any age restrictions?
You must be 16 years or older. Parental Consent if under 21 for a solo jump. In South Africa and New Zealand you can do a tandem jump as long as you fit in a standard harness.

What about weight restrictions?
The maximum weight is 100kgs.

What should I wear?
Comfortable casual clothing and sandshoes or sneakers. No high heels please.

Are there any medical conditions or disabilities that will limit my ability to do a skydive?
Some heart related conditions. You will be required to sign an indemnity form at the dropzone before making your jump where you will be required to list any medical problems. If in doubt, just let us know first.

How safe is it?
Every Jump For Charity dropzone has strict safety policies and highly trained professional jump masters, so you will be in safe hands.

Who will be taking me for my skydive?
Jump For Charity uses only experienced professional jump masters. Who are members of their local Parachute Federation, which are in turn members of the Federation Aeronautic International.

When is the best time to do my skydive?
You can skydive all year round, seven days a week - just arrange a suitable time with your chosen dropzone. If the weather is unfavourable your drop zone will contact you to arrange another time. Please allow the experience of your local dropzone to guide you on this.

How much money do I need to raise to do a Jump For Charity skydive?
In New Zealand and Australia the minimum is $345, in South Africa it is R1195. This will entitle you to a standard skydive. If you want to go higher or have video or photos taken of your jump, this is extra and must be arranged with the dropzone and paid for separately.

What if I raise more than the minimum?
If you raise $500 or R1500 you will receive a bronze medal as well as a certificate. $1000 or R3000 receives a silver medal and $1500 or R4500 gets the gold. The person who raises the most during the year is presented with the Jump For Charity Trophy and is featured on our website.

How do I get sponsors?
Ask your friends, family, workmates, sports teams, clubs or even complete strangers, to sponsor you. Make sure you tell them it is for charity, they can even read the info in the sponorship pack you will receive. Then sign them up using the official sponsorship form and collect their money. You can also collect miscellaneous cash donations and include them on your sponsorship form under 'lump sums'.

What happens if I can't raise the minimum amount?
All is not lost, you can still do a Jump For Charity skydive by making up the difference yourself.

What do I do once I've collected all my sponsorship money and am ready to do my skydive?
Post us a cheque or send us your credit card details along with your completed sponsorship form. We will then send you a voucher and contact details for your dropzone. Once you receive this you can contact the dropzone to arrange a time to do your skydive.

How do I know that the money I raise will go to the charity or charities I nominate on my sponsorship form?
Jump For Charity operates an open system with the charites. We keep all sponsorship forms on file and the charities may check these at any time to ensure they are receiving their share of the funds raised. After the cost of the jump and administration costs are paid for, 70% goes to the charity or charities.

How will the charity or charities use the money I have raised for them?
The money will be used to fund any of the many projects within your chosen charity or charities area of interest. For more information go to the charities page and click on the logo to go to that charity's website.

What do I get, other than the satisfaction of knowing I am raising much needed funds for charity?
A thrill of a lifetime skydive, a certificate, a medal if you raise $500 or R1500 or more, the Jump For Charity Trophy if you raise the most funds in one year.
