SOS CHILDRENS
VILLAGE
The SOS Childrens
Village Association of South Africa is a member
of SOS Kinderdorf International, the largest child
care organisation in the world, operating in over
132 countries. More than 200 000 children benefit
from the various residential, educational and developmental
programme worldwide.
SOS Childrens Village were
established in 1949 and celebrated their 50th Anniversary
in 1999. SOS Childrens Village was established in
South Africa in 1982 and has 6 Villages at present
in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth, Cape
Town, Pietermaritzburg and Umtata.
ASSOCIATION FOR DISABLED
The Association for
the Physically Disabled Johannesburg (APD) was established
in 1934.The Founder maintained that disability shows
no colour bar likewise this Association will show
no colour bar. Throughout the years that principal
has been enforced irrespective of the changing governments.
Currently APD offers non residential
services to people with primarily physical disability,
ranging from schools,social work services (group
and individual sessions, family support groups,
assessments, etc.)
